This is a half-day course aimed at primary health care trained nurses working in community health care centres, eye outpatient departments, eyes wards and nurses in clinical areas with patients who have Diabetes Mellitus. The course is presented by The Division of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Cape Town.
Course Content:
Anatomical structures of the eye and related physiology
History taking (use with screening sheet)
Torch light examination of the external eye structure
Testing visual acuity
Detecting signs of eye problems in children
Eye conditions to be treated at primary care level & eye emergencies
