Basics of Vital Signs Monitoring

This one day workshop is specifically designed to benefit non-medical staff required to do vital signs monitoring, both in a clinical and research environment for home-based carers and nursing auxiliaries. 

The course will consist of a series of lectures, followed by practical sessions based on the theory. Participants will have the opportunity to practise measuring physiological parameters and observing clinical parameters for signs of clinical deterioration to improve patient outcomes.


Course fee is R 800 per person (refreshments included)

•    Patient safety
•    Theory and practise of monitoring and interpreting:
o    heart rate
o    blood pressure
o    respiratory rate
o    oxygen saturation
o    temperature
o    level of consciousness
o    fluid balance
o    clinical parameters
