Laboratory Ready Journey

Who should attend?

Young scientists or laboratory technicians who want to enhance their laboratory skills in an ISO certified laboratory environment.

Entry requirements: BSc or Technicon diploma in Life Sciences 

The main purpose of the Laboratory Ready Journey programme is to provide practical training to work in an ISO certified laboratory, performing basic (routine) molecular biology functions. The two week programme will show participants how to develop, evaluate and perform scientific procedures which is needed when working in a research or diagnostic environment.

In addition, quality control related to the above procedures is the foundation upon which the programme is implemented. Overall, laboratory management will be addressed and demonstrated to enable participants to understand the processes within an accredited environment. 

Participants will be required to write a report after completion of the Genomics section and an assessment will form part of the Proteomics and Bioinformatics sections.
